TIPS AND GRATUITIES GUIDELINE

Tipping is a common practice throughout the world and guidelines vary in every situation. This guide will help you in determining what is the normal practice in South Africa hunting camps. It is provided only as a guide, as over tipping some of the staff can lead to their disappearance for a couple of days while they celebrate. Remember that these are just guidelines and all tipping should come from the heart as a thank you for the services that you received.

R700 or @ $100.00 would be an average tip for all of the staff. This would include all of the cook and maids. It is best to give this tip directly to Gary and he will ensure that the funds are divided fairly for the amount of work that they have done for you.

Normally there is just one tracker/skinner for each hunter. The average tip for him would be @ $10.00 per day. You can give your tracker/skinner this tip directly but if you do it would be best if you gave it to him in Rand. If you are tipping in other currency, it is best if you then give the tip to Gary and he will convert it into Rands for him.

The standard tip for your PH would be @ 10% of your daily rates per day or about $30.00 per day. Your tips for the PH can be in traveler’s checks, foreign currency (such as US dollars) or Rand.
